We made a "turtle elevator" (an 8-foot diameter, round net with a hydraulic lift to pull up a turtle) for Owner John Budi and Captain John Caldwell of the Eagle Eye II now featured in a 10-minute NOAA video on the NOAA Web site. | A 500-pound Leatherback turtle on deck where the hook is removed from the turtle's armpit and scientists insert a tag for tracking. The lift, powered by Scandia hydraulics, then carries the turtle back into the ocean. |
