UC silver has the same construction as the UC polyethylene black used in our knotless cod ends, except the material used is a spectra fiber called Dyneema.
This material is available in any size beginning at 4-ply (1mm) and can be ordered with any meshsize our customers need. UC silver webbing has twice the breaking strength of ordinary webbing, so a trawl constructed with this material greatly reduces the water resistance (drag) allowing for better towing speed, fuel savings, potential increased trawl size, and better catch rate. |
